Be mindful of your obligations; Avoid taking unfair advantage when trading goods or services with others; Exchange goods on the spot if possible; Follow justice and fairness in all dealings; Respect other people’s rights; Honor your commitments; Be honest in all transactions.

This hadith speaks to the importance of fulfilling one's obligations in a timely manner, as well as prohibiting riba, or usury. Usury is defined as taking an unfair advantage when exchanging goods or services for money. In this case, it was exchanging silver for gold. Umar bin al-Khattab heard about this exchange and reminded them that they should not leave until they have taken their exchange from him, citing a saying from the Prophet Muhammad that gold for silver is usurious unless it is exchanged on the spot. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our obligations and to avoid taking unfair advantage when trading goods or services with others.
