Fasting During Campaigns

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad and his companions went on a campaign during Ramadan and broke their fasts in both cases.

It was narrated that 'Umar said: We went on a campaign with the Messenger of Allah during Ramadan and the conquest took place in Ramadan, and we broke the fast in both cases.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow religious obligations according to one's circumstances

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad and his companions going on an expedition during the month of Ramadan, which is a holy month for Muslims. During this time, Muslims are required to fast from sunrise to sunset. However, in this case, the Prophet Muhammad and his companions were allowed to break their fast due to being on an expedition. This shows that it is permissible for Muslims to break their fast if they are travelling or in certain situations where fasting may be difficult or dangerous. It also teaches us that we should not be too strict with ourselves when it comes to religious obligations as Allah knows our circumstances better than we do.
