Musnad Ahmad 94 (Book 2, Hadith 13) #33788
Sleeping in a State of Ritual Impurity

SUMMARY: It is permissible to sleep in a state of ritual impurity (junub) after performing wudu.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar, that his father said: I asked the Messenger of Allah what one of us should do if he becomes junub then wants to sleep before doing ghusl. The Messenger of Allah said: "Let him do wudoo' as for prayer, then he may go to sleep'.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that it is permissible for someone who is in a state of ritual impurity to perform wudu and then go to sleep without having to take a full bath or ghusl. This ruling was given by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when he was asked about what one should do if they become junub but want to sleep before taking a bath. The Prophet ﷺ said that they should perform wudu as if they were going to pray and then go ahead and sleep. This hadith teaches us that it is important for us Muslims to follow the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ even when it comes down to small matters such as this one. We must remember that even though we may think something is insignificant, Allah knows best and has given us guidance through His Messenger ﷺ on how we should live our lives according to His will.
