Sahih al-Bukhari 3533 (Book 61, Hadith 42) #3374
Divine Protection of the Prophet

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was protected from the Quraish's abuse and cursing, despite them mistaking him for someone else.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "Doesn't it astonish you how Allah protects me from the Quraish's abusing and cursing? They abuse Mudhammam and curse Mudhammam while I am Muhammad (and not Mudhammam).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the divine protection that Allah provided to His Messenger, Muhammad ﷺ. The Quraish were known for their harsh treatment of the Prophet ﷺ, often abusing and cursing him. Despite this, Allah protected His beloved messenger from their harm by confusing them with another name - Mudhammam - so they would not recognize him as Muhammad ﷺ. This hadith serves as a reminder of how much Allah loves and protects His prophets and messengers. It also teaches us that we should always be grateful for any protection or blessings we receive from Him in our lives.
