Sunan Ibn Majah 4331 (Book 37, Hadith 232) #33687
The Grades of Paradise

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that Paradise has one hundred grades, the highest of which is Firdaws and the best of which is Firdaws. The Throne is above Firdaws and from it spring forth the rivers of Paradise.

Mu’adh bin Jabal said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Paradise has one hundred grades, each of which is as big as the distance between heaven and earth. The highest of them is Firdaws and the best of them is Firdaws. The Throne is above Firdaws and from it spring forth the rivers of Paradise. If you ask of Allah, ask Him for Firdaws.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Ask Allah for mercy and blessings; Strive hard to please Him through good deeds on Earth; Believe in His mercy; Be grateful for His blessings; Have faith in what He promises us with regards to rewards after death; Pray regularly with sincerity; Follow teachings of Prophet Muhammad PBUH faithfully .

EXPLANATIONS:
According to a hadith narrated by Muadh bin Jabal, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that there are one hundred grades in paradise. Each grade is as big as the distance between heaven and earth. The highest grade in paradise is called 'Firdaws' and it is also considered to be the best grade among all other grades. Above this grade lies 'The Throne', from where all rivers of paradise originate. Therefore if someone wishes to ask Allah for something then they should ask for 'Firdaws'. This hadith teaches us about how great Allah's blessings are upon us and how much He loves His believers who strive hard to please Him through their good deeds on earth so that they can attain His mercy in paradise after death.
