Sunan Ibn Majah 4320 (Book 37, Hadith 221) #33676
The Color of Hell-Fire

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ described the Hell-Fire as being kindled for three thousand years, turning from white to red and then black like the darkest night.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "The Hell-Fire was kindled for one thousand years and turned white. Then it was kindled for another thousand years and it turned red. Then it was kindled for another thousand years and it turned black. So it is black like the darkest night".

QUICK LESSONS:
Do good deeds in order to avoid punishment in hellfire

EXPLANATIONS:
According to this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) described the color of Hell-Fire. He said that it was kindled for one thousand years and turned white. Then it was kindled for another thousand years and it turned red. Finally, it was kindled for another thousand years and it turned black like the darkest night. This hadith serves as a reminder of how severe punishment in Hell is going to be, so we should strive to do good deeds in order to avoid such a fate. It also teaches us that Allah is All-Powerful and can do whatever He wills with His creation; no matter how powerful something may seem, Allah has ultimate power over all things.
