Sunan Ibn Majah 4292 (Book 37, Hadith 193) #33648
Mercy of Allah and Testing in this World

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that the mercy of Allah is upon the Muslims and they will be tested in this world by one another. On the Day of Resurrection, each Muslim will be given a man from among the idolaters as ransom from Hellfire.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah said: "This nation has been granted mercy (in the Hereafter) and its torment (in this world) is at the hands of one another. When the Day of Resurrection comes, each Muslim man will be given a man from among the idolaters and it will be said: 'This is your ransom from the Fire.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for goodness even when faced with difficult situations or temptations .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that Allah has granted mercy to Muslims and they will be tested in this world by one another. The test is to help them become better people, so that on the Day of Resurrection, each Muslim will be given a man from among the idolaters as ransom from Hellfire. This means that if any Muslim has done wrong or made mistakes during their life, then they can still receive mercy on Judgment Day if they have been good overall. The lesson here is to strive for goodness even when faced with difficult situations or temptations because it could lead to salvation on Judgment Day.
