Sunan Ibn Majah 4274 (Book 37, Hadith 175) #33630
The Superiority of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the superiority of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) over all other prophets and how Allah will be the one to decide who will be the first to raise their head after the trumpet is blown.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "A Jewish man said in the marketplace of Al-Madinah: 'By the One Who chose Musa above all of mankind.’ An Ansari man raised his hand and slapped him. He said: 'How dare you say this when the Messenger of Allah is among us?’ Mention of that was made to the Messenger of Allah , and he said: 'Allah says: "And the trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth will swoon away, except him whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown a second time, and behold they will be standing, looking on (waiting)". 39:68 I will be the first one to raise his head, and I will see Musa holding on to one of the pillars of the Throne, and I do not know whether he will have raised his head before me, or he will be one of those whom Allah exempts. And whoever says that I am better than Yunus bin Matta, he is lying".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect each other regardless differences in faith or beliefs .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the superiority of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ over all other prophets. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that a Jewish man said in the marketplace of Al-Madinah that Musa was chosen above all mankind. An Ansari man then slapped him for saying this when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was present among them. When this incident was reported to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ he recited a verse from Surat Al-Nasr which states that on Judgment Day everyone will swoon away except those whom Allah wills and he said that he would be one of those who would raise his head first and see Musa holding onto one of the pillars of Allah's throne but it is not known if Musa would have raised his head before him or not. He also said whoever claims he is better than Yunus bin Matta is lying as only Allah knows who is better than whom. This hadith teaches us that we should never compare ourselves with others as only Allah knows who has more virtue and piety than others and we should always respect each other regardless our differences in faith or beliefs as no one can claim superiority over another without knowing what lies in their hearts or what rewards they have earned from Allah for their deeds.
