Love of Life and Wealth in Old Age

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that old people still have a youthful heart when it comes to loving life and having wealth.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "The heart of an old man is young in the love of two things: Love of life and much wealth".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَرْوَانَ، ‏:‏ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعُثْمَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ قَالَ ‏:‏ ‏ "‏ قَلْبُ الشَّيْخِ شَابٌّ فِي اثْنَتَيْنِ ‏:‏ فِي حُبِّ الْحَيَاةِ وَكَثْرَةِ الْمَالِ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that even in old age, one can still have a youthful heart when it comes to loving life and having wealth. He said that the hearts of elderly people are young in the love of two things - life and much wealth. This hadith teaches us to appreciate our lives no matter what age we are at, as well as to strive for financial stability. It also encourages us not to be ashamed or embarrassed about wanting these two things even if we are older than most people around us. We should remember that these desires come from a place of love and appreciation for ourselves and our lives.
