Sunan Ibn Majah 4221 (Book 37, Hadith 122) #33577
Praise & Condemnation as Signs of Paradise & Hell

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that people can tell who is going to Paradise and who is going to Hell by their praise and condemnation of one another.

It was narrated from Abu Bakr bin Abu Zuhair Ath-Thaqafi, that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah addressed us in Nabawah" or Banawah – he (one of the narrators) said: "Nabawah is near Ta’if" – "And said: 'Soon you will be able to tell the people of Paradise from the people of Hell.’ They said: 'How O Messenger of Allah?’ He said: 'By praise and condemnation. You are Allah’s witnesses over one another.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Speak positively about others even if you disagree with them or don't understand them

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) taught his followers that they could tell who was destined for Heaven and who was destined for Hell by the way they praised or condemned each other. He said that we are all witnesses over one another in this regard. This means that we should be mindful of how we speak about others, as it can have a great impact on our own destiny. We should strive to always speak positively about others, even if we disagree with them or don't understand their actions. Doing so will help us stay on the path towards Heaven and away from the path towards Hell. Additionally, it is important to remember that our words have power; what we say has an effect on those around us and can shape their beliefs and opinions about themselves and others. Therefore, it is essential to use our words wisely in order to create a better world for ourselves and those around us.
