Wealth of Honor and Piety of Character

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that having honorable character and noble behavior is a form of wealth and piety.

It was narrated from Samurah bin Jundab that the Messenger of Allah said: "Being honorable is wealth and noble character is piety.’
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ الْعَسْقَلاَنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلاَّمُ بْنُ أَبِي مُطِيعٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدَبٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ الْحَسَبُ الْمَالُ وَالْكَرَمُ التَّقْوَى

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught his followers that having honorable character and noble behavior is a form of wealth and piety. This means that being kind, generous, respectful, honest, humble, patient, forgiving are all forms of wealth because they bring us closer to Allah. It also means that having good morals such as being truthful in speech and action is a form of piety because it brings us closer to Allah's pleasure. These values are important for people to practice in order to live an ethical life according to Islamic teachings.
