Sunan Ibn Majah 4202 (Book 37, Hadith 103) #33558
The Self-Sufficiency of Allah

SUMMARY: Allah is the Most Self-Sufficient and does not need any associates. Any action done for someone else's sake as well as Allah's will be renounced by Him to the person associated with Him.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "Allah says: 'I am the Most Self-Sufficient and I have no need for an associate. Thus he who does an action for someone else’s sake as well as Mine will have that action renounced by Me to him whom he associated with Me.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Do good deeds out of love and devotion to God .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the self sufficiency of Allah, who does not need any associates or partners in His work. It also teaches us that if we do an action for someone else’s sake as well as His, He will renounce it to that person instead of rewarding us for it. This means that we should only do good deeds out of our love and devotion to Him, and not because we want something in return from anyone else. We should always remember that He is the Most Generous and Merciful, so if we are sincere in our actions then He will reward us accordingly.
