Warning of Afflictions from the East

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the warning of afflictions that will come from the east.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: I heard Allah's Messenger on the pulpit saying, "Verily, afflictions (will start) from here," pointing towards the east, "whence the side of the head of Satan comes out".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ وَهْوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ‏ "‏ أَلاَ إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَا هُنَا ـ يُشِيرُ إِلَى الْمَشْرِقِ ـ مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, Abdullah bin Umar narrates that he heard Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) speaking on a pulpit and warning people about afflictions that will start from the east. The east here refers to Ash-Sham which is an area in the Middle East. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also pointed out that this is where Satan's head comes out. This hadith serves as a reminder for us to stay vigilant and prepare ourselves for any potential afflictions or trials we may face in life. We should also remember to seek refuge in Allah and ask Him for protection against any evil or harm we may encounter.
