Sunan Ibn Majah 4027 (Book 36, Hadith 102) #33382
The Wounds of the Prophet and Allah's Response

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was wounded and his face was covered in blood during the Battle of Uhud. He asked how a people could prosper if they hurt their Prophet while he is calling them to Allah. Allah then revealed a verse in response.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: On the Day of Uhud, a molar of the Messenger of Allah was broken and he was wounded. Blood started pouring down his face, and he started to wipe his face and say: "How can any people prosper if they soak the face of their Prophet with blood when he is calling them to Allah?" Then Allah revealed: "Not for you is the decision".3:128

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect Prophets/Messengers ; Trusting in God’s Decisions ; Guidance towards righteousness & faithfulness towards God .

EXPLANATIONS:
During the Battle of Uhud in 624 CE, the Prophet Muhammad's molar was broken and he was wounded. Blood started pouring down his face as he wiped it away and asked how any people could prosper if they hurt their own prophet while he is calling them to Allah. In response to this question from the Prophet Muhammad himself, Allah revealed a verse from Surah Al-Imran which states that it is not for him to decide whether or not these people will prosper or not; only God can make that decision. This hadith teaches us that we should never harm our prophets even when they are trying to guide us towards righteousness as only God has control over our destiny and prosperity.
