Sunan Ibn Majah 3951 (Book 36, Hadith 26) #33306
Praying for Protection from Destruction

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) prayed for his nation and asked Allah to protect them from destruction by enemies, drowning, and fighting among themselves.

It was narrated that Mu’adh bin Jabal said: "The Messenger of Allah prayed one day, and made the prayer lengthy. When he finished we said (or they said): 'O Messenger of Allah, you made the prayer lengthy today.’ He said: 'I offered a prayer of hope and fear. I asked Allah for three things for my nation, and He granted me two and refused one. I asked Him not to let my nation be destroyed by enemies from without, and He granted me that. And I asked Him not to let them be destroyed by drowning, and He granted me that. And I asked Him not to let them be destroyed by fighting among themselves, but He refused that.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray to God for protection & guidance in life . Have faith in His wisdom & mercy .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's prayer for his nation. He asked Allah to protect them from destruction by enemies, drowning, and fighting among themselves. He was granted protection from the first two but not the third one. This hadith teaches us that we should always pray to Allah for protection and guidance in our lives. It also shows us that even if we don't get what we ask for, it doesn't mean that Allah doesn't care about us or our needs; rather it means that He knows what is best for us in the long run. We should always have faith in His wisdom and mercy when things don't go as planned.
