QUICK LESSONS:
Do not take something from someone without permission or payment
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the unlawfulness of plundering. It was narrated by Thalabah bin Hakam that he and his companions came across some sheep belonging to their enemies and plundered them, setting up their cooking pots. The Prophet then passed by the pots and ordered that they be overturned, saying “Plunder is not permissible”. This hadith teaches us that it is forbidden to take something from someone without permission or without paying for it, even if it belongs to an enemy. We should always strive to be honest in our dealings with others, regardless of whether they are friends or foes.
