Entering Bathhouses According to the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet forbade men and women from entering bathhouses, but later allowed men to enter wearing a waist wrap.

It was narrated from Aisha that the Prophet: forbade men and women to enter bathhouses, then he allowed men to enter them wearing a waist wrap, but he did not make the same allowance for women.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُذْرَةَ، - قَالَ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ـ ـ - عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ ـ نَهَى الرِّجَالَ وَالنِّسَاءَ مِنَ الْحَمَّامَاتِ ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ لِلرِّجَالِ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوهَا فِي الْمَيَازِرِ وَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لِلنِّسَاءِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the rules of entering bathhouses according to the Prophet. It was narrated by Aisha that the Prophet initially forbade both men and women from entering bathhouses. However, he later allowed men to enter them wearing a waist wrap, known as an Izar in Arabic. He did not make this allowance for women though. This hadith teaches us that modesty is important when it comes to public places like bathhouses and that there are different rules for men and women in certain situations.
