Responding to a Sneeze

SUMMARY: When someone sneezes, they should say "Alhamdulillah" and those around them should respond with "Yarhamkullah", and the person who sneezed should respond with "Yahdikum Allah wa yuslaha balakum".

It was narrated from Ali that the Messenger of Allah said: "If anyone of you sneezes, let him say: Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah). Those around him should respond by saying: Yarhamkullah (may Allah have mercy on you). And he should respond by saying: "Yahdikum Allah wa yuslaha balakum (may Allah Guide you and set right your state)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Say Alhumdullilh when you sneeze

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how to properly respond when someone sneezes. The Prophet Muhammad taught that when someone sneezes, they should say “Alhamdulillah” which means “praise be to Allah”. Those around them should then respond by saying “Yarhamkullah” which means “may Allah have mercy on you”. The person who has just sneezed should then reply by saying “Yahdikum Allah wa yuslaha balakum” which translates to “may Allah guide you and set right your state”. This hadith teaches us the importance of showing gratitude for blessings from God as well as being kind and courteous towards others.
