Responding to Greetings with Peace

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) responded to a man's greeting with peace.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that: "a man entered the masjid, and the Messenger of Allah was sitting in a corner of the mosque. He prayed, then he came and greeted him with Salam(peace), and he said: 'Wa 'alaikassalm".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ جَالِسٌ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلاَمُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of responding to greetings with peace. It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that a man entered the masjid and greeted the Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) with salam. The Prophet responded by saying "Wa 'alaikassalam" which translates to "and upon you be peace". This hadith teaches us that it is important for Muslims to respond positively when someone greets them and that we should always respond in kind. We should also strive to spread peace and positivity in our interactions with others.
