The Value of Having Children

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ embraced Hasan and Hussain and taught that having children can make a man more cautious and careful.

It was narrated from Ya'la Al -Amir that he said: "Hasan and Hussain came running to the Prophet and he embraced them and said: 'Children make a man a miser and a coward'."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ، عَنْ يَعْلَى الْعَامِرِيِّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ جَاءَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ يَسْعَيَانِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ـ ـ فَضَمَّهُمَا إِلَيْهِ وَقَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ الْوَلَدَ مَبْخَلَةٌ مَجْبَنَةٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the value of having children. It was narrated from Ya'la Al-Amir that he said, "Hasan and Hussain came running to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he embraced them and said, 'Children make a man a miser and a coward.'" This hadith teaches us that having children can make us more cautious in our decisions as well as more careful with our actions. It also shows us how much love the Prophet had for his grandchildren, Hasan and Hussain, by embracing them when they ran to him. We should learn from this example of love for our own families.
