Sahih al-Bukhari 3457 (Book 60, Hadith 124) #3302
Announcing Prayer Time

SUMMARY: The people suggested to use the fire and bell for announcing the time of prayer, but Bilal was ordered to pronounce the words of Adhan twice and Iqama once only.

Narrated Anas: The people mentioned the fire and the bell (as means proposed for announcing the time of prayer) and by such a suggestion they referred to the Jews and the Christians. But Bilal was ordered, "Pronounce the words of the Adhan (ie call for the prayer) twice and the Iqama once only".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Muslims should announce their prayer times. It was narrated by Anas ibn Malik that some people suggested using fire or a bell to announce prayer times like Jews and Christians did. However, Bilal was instructed to proclaim the words of Adhan twice and Iqama once only. Adhan is an announcement made before each obligatory prayer which informs Muslims that it is time for them to perform their prayers. Iqama is an announcement made after adhan which tells Muslims that it's time for them to line up in rows for their prayers. This hadith teaches us that we should follow Islamic traditions when announcing our prayers instead of following other religions' practices. It also shows us how important it is for us as Muslims to be mindful of our religious obligations such as praying on time every day so we can stay connected with Allah SWT at all times.
