Prohibiting Qaza

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad forbade Qaza.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: "The Messenger of Allah forbade Qaza’".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ عَنِ الْقَزَعِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of a practice called ‘Qaza’. It was narrated by Ibn 'Umar, one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad, that the Messenger of Allah forbade this practice. The term ‘Qaza’ refers to an obligation or duty that has been neglected and needs to be fulfilled later on. This hadith teaches us that it is important to fulfill our obligations in a timely manner and not delay them for later on as it is prohibited in Islam. We should strive to fulfill our duties as soon as possible and not wait until we are forced into doing them at a later time.
