The Importance of Wearing Both Sandals and Socks

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to walk with only one sandal or one leather sock, instead it is better to take them both off or wear both.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said; "None of you should walk in one sandal or in one leather sock. Let him take them both off or walk in both of them".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ لاَ يَمْشِي أَحَدُكُمْ فِي نَعْلٍ وَاحِدٍ وَلاَ خُفٍّ وَاحِدٍ لِيَخْلَعْهُمَا جَمِيعًا أَوْ لِيَمْشِ فِيهِمَا جَمِيعًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Abu Hurairah, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaches us that it is not permissible to walk with only one sandal or one leather sock on our feet. Instead, we should either take them both off or wear both of them at all times when walking outside. This hadith emphasizes the importance of wearing proper footwear and taking care of our feet in order to protect ourselves from any harm that may come our way while walking outdoors. It also teaches us about modesty and respect for ourselves as well as others around us by making sure we are properly dressed at all times when going out in public places.
