Prohibiting Clothes Dyed with Safflower

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade 'Ali from wearing clothes dyed with safflower.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Hunain said: "I heard 'Ali say: 'The Messenger of Allah forbade me – and I do not say that he forbade you – from wearing clothes dyed with safflower.’"
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا، يَقُولُ نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ - وَلاَ أَقُولُ نَهَاكُمْ - عَنْ لُبْسِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ

This hadith is about the prohibition of wearing clothes dyed with safflower. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Hunain that he heard Ali say that the Prophet Muhammad forbade him from wearing clothes dyed with safflower. This hadith teaches us to obey the commands of Allah and His Messenger, even if it may seem insignificant or small.
