Love for Children in Islam

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ showed his love and affection for Hasan and Husain by picking them up when they stumbled, despite being in the middle of a sermon.

'Abdullah bin Buraidah narrated that his father told him: I saw the Messenger of Allah delivering a sermon, and Hasan and Husain came forward, wearing red shirts, stumbling and getting up again. The Prophet stepped down, picked them up and put them in his lap. Then he said: "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth'.Your wealth and your children are only a trial.’ 64:15 I saw these two and I could not be patient. Then he resumed his sermon".

QUICK LESSONS:
Showing kindness towards family members, Showing love for one's own children

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith shows the importance of showing love to one's children in Islam. It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad was delivering a sermon when Hasan and Husain came forward wearing red shirts, stumbling and getting up again. Despite being in the middle of his sermon, he stepped down to pick them up and put them on his lap. He then said “Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth” referring to verse 64:15 which states “Your wealth and your children are only a trial”. This hadith teaches us that although our children may be a trial, we should still show them love as it is an important part of our faith as Muslims. We should also remember that Allah loves those who show kindness towards their families, especially their children.
