Healing Through Reciting Ruqyah

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught Abu Hurairah a Ruqyah to recite for healing from sickness, evil of those who practice witchcraft, and the evil of the envier.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Prophet came to visit me (when I was sick), and said to me: 'Shall I not recite for you a Ruqyah that Jibra’il brought to me?’ I said: 'May my father and mother be ransomed for you! Yes, O Messenger of Allah!’ He said: Bismillah arqika, wallahu yashfika, min kulli da’in fika, min sharrin- naffathati fil-'uqad, wa min sharri hasidin idha hasad (In the Name of Allah I perform Ruqyah for you, from every disease that is in you, and from the evil of those who (practice witchcraft when they) blow in the knots, and from the evil of the envier when he envies), three times".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet teaching Abu Hurairah a special prayer called a ruqyah that Jibrail brought to him. A ruqyah is an Islamic practice used for healing and protection from harm. It involves reciting certain verses from the Quran or supplications prescribed by the prophet Muhammad in order to seek refuge in Allah and ask for His help. The Prophet instructed Abu Hurairah to recite this particular ruqyah three times in order to be healed from any sickness, as well as any evil caused by those who practice witchcraft or envy others. This hadith teaches us that we should always turn to Allah when we are facing difficulties or hardships, as He is our only source of true healing and protection. We should also strive to protect ourselves through reciting prayers such as this ruqyah so that we can be safe from any harm caused by others’ envy or malicious intentions towards us.
