Reciting Ruqyah to Overcome Evil Eye

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Asma to recite Ruqyah for the children of Jafar who were afflicted by the evil eye, as it can help overcome the Divine decree.

It was narrated that 'Ubaid bin Rifa’ah Az-Zuraqi said: "Asma’ said: 'O Messenger of Allah! The children of Ja’far have been afflicted by the evil eye, shall I recite Ruqyah* for them?’ He said: 'Yes, for if anything were to overtake the Divine decree it would be the evil eye.’"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how reciting Ruqyah can help overcome the effects of an evil eye. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Asma to recite Ruqyah for her children who were afflicted by an evil eye. An evil eye is a look that is believed to cause harm or bad luck for the person at whom it is directed. It was narrated that 'Ubaid bin Rifaah Az-Zuraqi said that Asma asked if she should recite Ruqyah for her children and he said yes, as it could help overcome what has been decreed by Allah. This hadith teaches us that we should not be afraid of any harm caused by an evil eye, but instead seek protection from Allah and use remedies such as reciting ruqya in order to protect ourselves from its effects. We should also remember that whatever happens in our lives has already been decreed by Allah and nothing can change this destiny except through His will alone.
