The Power of Medicine, Ruqyah and Protection in Relation to Allah's Decree

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the power of medicine, ruqyah and protection in relation to Allah's decree.

It was narrated that Abu Khizamah said: "The Messenger of Allah was asked: 'Do you think that the medicines with which we treat ourselves, the Ruqyah by which we seek healing, and the means of protection that we seek, change the decree of Allah at all?’ He said: 'They are part of the decree of Allah.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Use medicines, Ruquayh and other forms of protections when needed; Put your trust in God’s will; Accept what has been decreed by Him without question or doubt .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of medicine, ruqyah and protection in relation to Allah's decree. It was narrated by Abu Khizamah that the Messenger of Allah was asked if medicines, ruqyahs and means of protection change the decree of Allah at all. He replied that they are part of the decree from Allah. This hadith teaches us that although we can use medicines, ruqyahs and means for protection for our own benefit, it is ultimately up to God’s will whether or not these things will be effective. We should always remember that everything happens according to God’s plan and nothing can change His divine plan. We should also remember that we should never rely solely on these things but instead put our trust in God as well as use them as a means for healing or protecting ourselves from harm.
