The Ten Angles of Cursing Wine

SUMMARY: Wine is cursed from ten angles and those angles are the wine itself, the one who squeezes it, the one for whom it is squeezed, the one who sells it, the one who buys it, the one who carries it, the one to whom it is carried, the one who consumes its price, the one who drinks it and finally;the one who pours it.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: "Wine is cursed from ten angles: The wine itself, the one who squeezes (the grapes etc), the one for whom it is squeezed, the one who sells it, the one who buys it, the one who carries it, the one to whom it is carried, the one who consumes its price, the one who drinks it and the one who pours it".
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْغَافِقِيِّ، وَأَبِي، طُعْمَةَ مَوْلاَهُمْ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ لُعِنَتِ الْخَمْرُ عَلَى عَشَرَةِ أَوْجُهٍ بِعَيْنِهَا وَعَاصِرِهَا وَمُعْتَصِرِهَا وَبَائِعِهَا وَمُبْتَاعِهَا وَحَامِلِهَا وَالْمَحْمُولَةِ إِلَيْهِ وَآكِلِ ثَمَنِهَا وَشَارِبِهَا وَسَاقِيهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Ibn 'Umar and was said by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith he explains that wine is cursed from ten different angles. These angles include; The wine itself being cursed as well as those involved in its production such as;the person squeezing grapes or other fruits to make wine out of them or selling/buying/carrying/consuming its price or drinking/pouring wine. All these activities are considered sinful in Islam and thus are cursed by Allah SWT. This hadith teaches us that we should stay away from all activities related to alcohol consumption as they are prohibited in Islam and can lead us astray from our faith.
