The Dangers of Wine

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad warned against the dangers of consuming wine, as its sins are greater than other sins.

'Ubadah bin Samit said: "I heard Khabbab bin Arat narrating that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Beware of wine! For its sins overwhelm other sins, just as the grapevine overwhelms other trees.’"
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُنِيرُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ نُسَىٍّ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ خَبَّابَ بْنَ الأَرَتِّ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ ـ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِيَّاكَ وَالْخَمْرَ فَإِنَّ خَطِيئَتَهَا تَفْرَعُ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا أَنَّ شَجَرَتَهَا تَفْرَعُ الشَّجَرَ
