Sunan Ibn Majah 3367 (Book 29, Hadith 117) #32721
Permissibility of Actions According to the Quran

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that whatever is permissible in the Quran is lawful and whatever is forbidden in the Quran is unlawful, and what Allah has not mentioned should be pardoned.

It was narrated that Salman Al-Farisi said: "The Messenger of Allah was asked about ghee, cheese and wild donkeys. He said: 'What is lawful is that which Allah has permitted, in His Book and what is unlawful is that which Allah has forbidden in His Book. What He remained silent about is what is pardoned.’"

Obey God's commands as stated in the Holy Qur'an .
EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Salman Al-Farisi teaches us that we should only do what Allah has permitted in His Book, the Holy Qur'an. We must avoid doing anything that Allah has forbidden in His Book. Anything else which He did not mention should be pardoned or avoided as much as possible. This hadith encourages us to stay away from any action which may lead to sinning or disobeying God's commands. It also reminds us of our responsibility towards our Creator and how we must strive to obey Him at all times.
