Licking Hands for Blessings

SUMMARY: We should not wipe our hands after eating until we have licked them, as blessings may be found in our food.

It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah said: "None of you should wipe his hand until he has licked it, for he does not know where the blessing if in his food.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Appreciate all of the blessings from Allah; Take advantage of every opportunity to gain more blessings; Show gratitude for what Allah has given you; Never forget how blessed you truly are; Lick your fingers with sincerity and faithfulness when eating food .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that when we eat, we should not wipe our hands until we have licked them. This is because there may be blessings in the food that are hidden and can only be found by licking the fingers. This teaches us to appreciate all of the blessings that Allah has given us and to take advantage of every opportunity to gain more blessings. It also encourages us to take care of ourselves and make sure that no blessing goes unnoticed or unappreciated.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also taught us about gratitude and humility, two important values which are essential for a successful life. By teaching us this hadith, he was reminding us to always show gratitude for what Allah has given us and never forget how blessed we truly are. He was also teaching us humility by reminding us that even small things like licking our fingers can bring great rewards if done with sincerity and faithfulness.
