Do not kill any dog except for those that are all black; Be mindful of your actions and how they can affect your reward from Allah SWT in the hereafter; Show compassion towards animals; Keep dogs only if they are used for herding livestock, hunting or farming purposes .

This hadith teaches us that it is not permissible to kill dogs, except for those that are all black. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also taught us that people who keep dogs, other than those used for herding livestock, hunting or farming, will have their rewards reduced by two Qirat each day. A Qirat is a unit of measurement in the Islamic faith which is equal to one-third of a person's daily reward from Allah SWT. Therefore this hadith encourages us to be mindful of our actions and how they can affect our rewards from Allah SWT in the hereafter.
