Eating Horses and Wild Donkeys During Khaibar

SUMMARY: Eating horses and wild donkeys was allowed during the time of Khaibar.

It was narrated from Abu Zubair that he heard Jabir bin 'Abdullah say: "At the time of Khaibar we ate horses and wild donkeys".
حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ أَبُو بِشْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ أَكَلْنَا زَمَنَ خَيْبَرَ الْخَيْلَ وَحُمُرَ الْوَحْشِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Zubair who heard it from Jabir bin 'Abdullah. It states that at the time of Khaibar, eating horses and wild donkeys was allowed. This shows that during certain times, people were allowed to eat animals which are not usually eaten in other times. This teaches us to be mindful of our actions and to follow the rules set by our leaders or elders in order to maintain peace and harmony in society.
