Sunan Ibn Majah 3183 (Book 27, Hadith 22) #32537
Shooting Arrows at Runaway Camels

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised people to shoot an arrow at a runaway camel, similar to how one would do with a wild animal.

It was narrated that Rafi’ bin Khadij said: "We were with the Prophet on a journey, and a camel ran away. A man shot an arrow at it and the Prophet said: 'It has the inclination to run away like a wild animal. If this happens to any of you, do likewise.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Take responsibility for your possessions and be mindful of others' safety when dealing with animals or other situations where there is potential for harm .

EXPLANATIONS:
During a journey, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised people that if their camel ran away, they should shoot an arrow at it in order to stop it. This is similar to how one would do with a wild animal. The Prophet's advice was meant as a way of protecting the property of the person who owned the camel and ensuring that it did not get lost or stolen. He also wanted to ensure that no harm came to anyone who might have been in danger due to the runaway camel. This hadith teaches us about taking responsibility for our possessions and being mindful of others' safety when dealing with animals or other situations where there is potential for harm.
