Sufficiency of One Jadhaa

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a man from the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who was called Mujashi, and he shared a saying of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that one Jadhaa is enough for whatever two-year-old sheep can suffice.

It was narrated from 'Asim bin Kulaib that his father said: "We were with a man from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah who was called Mujashi’, from Banu Sulaim, and sheep became scarce. He ordered a caller to call out that the Messenger of Allah used to say: 'A Jadha’a suffices for whatever a two-year-old sheep suffices.’"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about the sufficiency of one jadhaa which was narrated by Asim bin Kulaib from his father. It was said that they were with a man from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). His name was Mujashi, and he belonged to Banu Sulaim. During this time, sheep became scarce so he ordered a caller to call out that what Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to say which is “A jadhaa suffices for whatever a two-year-old sheep suffices”. This hadith teaches us about being content with what we have and not wanting more than what we need as it will lead us away from our faith in Allah SWT. We should be grateful for all that we have been given and not be greedy or envious towards others who may have more than us.
