Sahih al-Bukhari 3394 (Book 60, Hadith 68) #3246
The Cup of Milk and Wine

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was given two cups, one containing milk and the other wine. He chose to drink the milk, which symbolizes his acceptance of Islam as the true religion.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "On the night of my Ascension to Heaven, I saw (the prophet) Moses who was a thin person with lank hair, looking like one of the men of the tribe of Shanua; and I saw Jesus who was of average height with red face as if he had just come out of a bathroom. And I resemble prophet Abraham more than any of his offspring does. Then I was given two cups, one containing milk and the other wine. Gabriel said, 'Drink whichever you like'. I took the milk and drank it. Gabriel said, 'You have accepted what is natural, (True Religion ie Islam) and if you had taken the wine, your followers would have gone astray'. "

QUICK LESSONS:
Choose what is natural or right according to our faith in Allah SWT instead of going astray from it by following our desires or temptations even if they seem attractive at first glance .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) ascension to Heaven on the night of Mi'raj. During this journey, he saw Moses who was a thin person with lank hair and Jesus who was of average height with red face as if he had just come out of a bathroom. He also resembled prophet Abraham more than any of his offspring does. Then Gabriel gave him two cups, one containing milk and the other wine; he chose to drink the milk which symbolized his acceptance of Islam as true religion while if he had chosen wine it would have caused his followers to go astray from their faith in Allah SWT. This Hadith teaches us that we should always choose what is natural or right according to our faith in Allah SWT instead of going astray from it by following our desires or temptations even if they seem attractive at first glance.
