Devotion to Allah in Makkah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) went to Makkah and said the words "Labbaika 'Umratan wa hajjatan" which is an expression of devotion to Allah.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "We went out with the Messenger of Allah to Makkah, and I heard him say: 'Labbaika 'Umratan wa hajjatan Here I am (O Allah), for 'Umrah and Hajj.’"
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ ـ إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ لَبَّيْكَ عُمْرَةً وَحَجَّةً

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates the story of when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went on a journey to Makkah. During this journey he expressed his devotion and commitment to Allah by saying “Labbaika 'Umratan wa hajjatan” which translates as “Here I am for 'Umrah and Hajj”. This phrase is used by Muslims today when they go on pilgrimage or perform any other act of worship towards Allah. It serves as a reminder that all acts should be done with sincerity and dedication for the sake of pleasing God alone.
