Performing Hajj and 'Umrah on Behalf of an Elderly Person

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) advised Abu Razin Al-Uqaili to perform Hajj and 'Umrah on behalf of his elderly father who was unable to do so himself.

It was narrated from Abu Razin Al-Uqaili that he came to the Prophet and said: "O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man and he cannot perform Hajj or 'Umrah, and he is not able to ride the mount (due to old age)". He said: "Perform Hajj and 'Umrah on behalf of your father".

Helping those in need by doing good deeds in their place if they are not able to do it themselves; respecting our elders; taking care of them even when they can no longer take care of themselves; performing religious duties even if one cannot do it oneself.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of performing Hajj and 'Umrah for those who are unable to do so themselves. In this hadith, Abu Razin Al-Uqaili came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asking for advice regarding his elderly father's inability to perform these religious duties. The Prophet ﷺ advised him that he should perform them on behalf of his father instead. This hadith teaches us that we should help those in need by doing good deeds in their place if they are not able to do it themselves. It also shows us the importance of respecting our elders and taking care of them even when they can no longer take care of themselves.
