This hadith teaches us how to ask Allah for mercy and blessings on the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his family. The people asked the Prophet how they should pray for him, and he instructed them to say "O Allah! Send Your Mercy on Muhammad and on his wives and on his off spring, as You sent Your Mercy on Abraham's family; and send Your Blessings on Muhammad and on his offspring, as You sent Your Blessings on Abraham's family". This shows us that we should always remember to pray for our beloved prophet in our daily prayers.
