Sunan Ibn Majah 2848 (Book 24, Hadith 96) #32202
Offering Funeral Prayers for the Wrongdoer

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that even if someone has done wrong, they should still be given a proper funeral and burial.

It was narrated that Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani said: "A man from (the tribe of) Ashja’ died in Khaibar, and the Prophet said: 'Offer the funeral prayer for your companion.’ The people found that strange.* When he saw that, he said: 'Your companion stole from the spoils of war (when fighting) in the cause of Allah.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Offer proper funerals and burials even if someone has done wrong. Show mercy and kindness towards all people regardless of their actions in this life. Be patient when faced with difficult situations.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us an important lesson about how to treat those who have done wrong. Even though someone may have committed a crime or sin, we should still offer them the same respect as anyone else by offering them a proper funeral and burial. This is because we do not know what Allah will forgive or punish in the afterlife, so it is best to show mercy and kindness towards all people regardless of their actions in this life. We can also learn from this hadith that it is important to be patient when faced with difficult situations, as the Prophet showed patience when he saw people reacting strangely to his command of offering funeral prayers for the deceased man from Ashja tribe.
