Sunan Ibn Majah 2688 (Book 21, Hadith 74) #32042
Betrayal and its Consequences

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against the consequences of betraying someone who has trusted you with their life.

It was narrated that Rifa'ah bin Shaddad Al-Qitbani said: "Were it not for a word that I heard from 'Amr bin Hamiq Khuza'i, I would have separated the head of Al-Mukhtar from his body. I heard him saying: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'If a man trusts someone with his life then he kills him, he will carry a banner of treachery on the day of Resurrection'."

This hadith is about the consequences of betrayal. It was narrated by Rifa'ah bin Shaddad Al-Qitbani that he heard 'Amr bin Hamiq Khuza'i say that the Prophet Muhammad said that if a person trusts someone with their life and then they kill them, they will carry a banner of treachery on the day of resurrection. This means that those who betray others will be punished for it in the afterlife.
