Killing Non-Muslims Forbidden

SUMMARY: Killing a non-Muslim who has a covenant with Muslims is forbidden and will lead to not entering Paradise.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Amr that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever kills a Mu'ahid, will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, even though its fragrance may be detected from a distance of forty years".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَنْ قَتَلَ مُعَاهِدًا لَمْ يَرَحْ رَائِحَةَ الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ رِيحَهَا لَيُوجَدُ مِنْ مَسِيرَةِ أَرْبَعِينَ عَامًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consequences of killing a non-Muslim who has a covenant with Muslims. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that whoever kills such an individual will not be able to smell the fragrance of paradise even though it can be detected from forty years away. This hadith teaches us that we should respect those who have covenants with us and never break them by killing them or doing any other harm. It also teaches us that if we do break our covenants then we will face severe consequences in the afterlife. We should always strive to keep our promises and treat others kindly regardless of their faith or beliefs.
