This hadith discusses the ruling of inheritance from blood money, which is a form of compensation paid by an offender to the family or relatives of a victim in cases such as murder or injury. According to this hadith, it was narrated that 'Umar used to say that only near male relatives from the father's side are entitled to receive this compensation. However, Ad-Dahhak bin Sufyan wrote to him and informed him that according to Prophet Muhammad's ruling, even wives are entitled to inherit their husband's blood money.
