Sunan Ibn Majah 2637 (Book 21, Hadith 23) #31991
No Retaliation for Minor Wounds

SUMMARY: There is no retaliation for minor wounds that do not cause serious damage.

It was narrated from 'Abbas bin 'Abdul-Muttalib that the Messenger of Allah said: "There is no retaliation for a head wound that does not reach the brain, a spear wound that does not penetrate deeply, or a wound that dislocates a bone".

QUICK LESSONS:
Forgive those who have wronged you; strive to create peace within your community; be patient and understanding when dealing with others; show mercy even when faced with harm.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that we should not seek revenge or retaliation for minor injuries, such as a head wound that does not reach the brain, a spear wound that does not penetrate deeply, or a wound that dislocates a bone. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to be forgiving and merciful even in the face of harm. He also taught us to be patient and understanding when dealing with others who may have wronged us in some way. We should strive to forgive those who have hurt us and move on from any negative feelings we may have towards them. In this way, we can create peace and harmony within our communities instead of engaging in retaliatory violence which only leads to more destruction and suffering.
