Punishment for Marrying Father's Wife

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sent Mu'awiyah bin Qurrah to execute a man who had married his father's wife after he died and confiscate his wealth.

It was narrated from Mu'awiyah bin Qurrah that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah sent me to a man who had married his father's wife after he died, to strike his neck (execute him) and confiscate his wealth".
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنُ أَخِي الْحُسَيْنِ الْجُعْفِيِّ، حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مَنَازِلَ التَّيْمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَى رَجُلٍ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةَ أَبِيهِ أَنْ أَضْرِبَ عُنُقَهُ وَأُصَفِّيَ مَالَهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the punishment that was given to a man who married his father’s wife after he passed away. According to this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sent Mu'awiyah bin Qurrah to execute the man and confiscate his wealth. This shows that it is forbidden in Islam for someone to marry their father’s wife even if their father has passed away. It also shows that there are consequences for disobeying Allah’s commands and laws. Furthermore, it teaches us that we should always obey Allah’s commands and stay away from any kind of sin or wrongdoing as it will only bring us harm in this life and in the hereafter.
