Sunan Ibn Majah 2604 (Book 20, Hadith 72) #31958
Allah's Justice & Generosity

SUMMARY: Allah is just and generous, and will not punish someone twice for the same sin if they have already been punished in this world.

It was narrated from Ali that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever commits a sin in this world and is punished for it, Allah (SWT) is too just to repeat the punishment for his slave (in the hereafter). And whoever commits a sin in this world and Allah conceals him, Allah is too generous to go back to something that He has pardoned".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to live according to God's commands so that you can be forgiven for your sins.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the justice and generosity of Allah. It tells us that if we commit a sin in this world, we may be punished for it here on earth. However, if Allah chooses to conceal our sins from us, He is too generous to go back on His decision and punish us again in the hereafter. This hadith teaches us that even though we may make mistakes or do wrong things, Allah is always merciful and forgiving towards those who repent sincerely. We should strive to live our lives according to His commands so that He can forgive our sins and grant us mercy in both this life and the next.
