Punishment of Fornication in Islam

SUMMARY: A woman confessed to committing fornication and was stoned as punishment. The Prophet then offered the funeral prayer for her.

It was narrated from 'Imran bin Husain that : a woman came to the Prophet and confessed to committing fornication. He issued orders, and her garments were tightened around her (so that her private parts would not become uncovered) then he stoned her, then he offered the funeral prayer for her.
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلاَبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَاجِرِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ فَاعْتَرَفَتْ بِالزِّنَا فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَشُكَّتْ عَلَيْهَا ثِيَابُهَا ثُمَّ رَجَمَهَا ثُمَّ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا

This hadith is about the punishment of fornication in Islam. According to this hadith, a woman came to the Prophet and confessed to committing fornication. As a result, she was stoned as punishment and then the Prophet offered her funeral prayer. This shows that even though there is a severe punishment for such an act, it is still important to show mercy and compassion towards those who have committed it by offering them funeral prayers after their death. It also teaches us that we should not judge people harshly but rather be compassionate towards them even if they have done something wrong according to Islamic teachings.
