This hadith speaks about the virtue of jihad over freeing an illegitimate child. It was narrated from Maimunah bint Sa'd, a freed slave woman of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). She was asked about illegitimate children and he said that two sandals in which he waged jihad were better than freeing an illegitimate child. This hadith teaches us that waging jihad is more virtuous than freeing an illegitimate child.
