Benefits of Digging Wells

SUMMARY: Whoever digs a well is entitled to the land around it for their flocks.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Mughaffal that the Prophet said: "Whoever digs a well, is entitled to forty forearms' length surrounding it is as a resting place for his flocks".
حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُكَيْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ الْمَكِّيُّ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَنْ حَفَرَ بِئْرًا فَلَهُ أَرْبَعُونَ ذِرَاعًا عَطَنًا لِمَاشِيَتِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the benefits of digging wells. It was narrated by 'Abdullah bin Mughaffal that the Prophet said that whoever digs a well, they are entitled to forty forearms' length surrounding it as a resting place for their flocks. This means that if someone takes the effort and time to dig a well, they will be rewarded with an area around it where their animals can rest and graze. This hadith teaches us about how hard work pays off and encourages us to take initiative in our lives in order to reap its rewards. It also teaches us about being generous with our resources and not taking more than what we need from them.
